SOHO Hotel Auckland brought Art Deco theatrics to the suburb of Mount Roskill when Capstone Hotel Management opened the 126-room property in 2024, developed in partnership with owner-developer IPG Corporation Ltd. A pillarless ballroom, an Asian-fusion restaurant and a still-pending double-level spa anchor a property pitched as an urban escape midway between downtown Auckland and the airport. It also carries the flagship title for the new SOHO Luxury Hotels brand.

The place
SOHO Hotel Auckland sits at 180 Stoddard Road in Mount Roskill, a residential and light-industrial pocket of the city roughly ten to fifteen minutes' drive from the CBD and a similar distance from Auckland Airport. The address trades a central postcode for practicality: trade press has noted it as the closest hotel to Eden Park, New Zealand's national stadium, and the hotel is positioned as a base for business travelers, conference delegates and event crowds rather than sightseers. On-site parking, a pillarless ballroom for up to 200 guests and two further meeting rooms reinforce that corporate and events-driven pitch.
The concept
SOHO Hotel Auckland is the debut property under the SOHO Luxury Hotels banner, developed by IPG Corporation Ltd and operated by Capstone Hotel Management, with the design credited to owner Rishi Parbhu. An Art Deco-inspired shell wraps a more eclectic, contemporary interior: the lobby pairs string lighting with a water-feature signage wall, and the ballroom centers on a custom "Eternal Bloom" chandelier suspending 308 individual tulips. Across 126 keys, the room mix runs from standard doubles with balconies to spa suites with private outdoor hot tubs and a two-bedroom apartment occupying the top floor. The positioning reads closer to upscale lifestyle than strict five-star luxury. Reviewers have flagged road noise and uneven views in some room categories, and opening-year rates started around NZ$160 a night, well below typical luxury benchmarks in Auckland. What the property banks on instead is scale and event infrastructure — a 200-guest ballroom, two meeting rooms and a design brief aimed squarely at conferences, Eden Park crowds and stopover travelers rather than leisure guests seeking a single-destination retreat.
Dining & wellness
Food and drink center on Tiger Bar & Restaurant, an Asian-fusion dining room serving breakfast and dinner; its bao buns and willingness to customize children's meals have drawn specific praise from reviewers. Café Luxe, a glass-walled space with Auckland skyline views, runs a lighter daytime menu from 7am to 3pm. A double-level spa, Spa X SOHO, was announced alongside the hotel's opening, planned with an onsen pool, dry sauna and seven treatment rooms including two for couples, plus a meditation deck, yoga space and gym — but as of the hotel's own website, it remains a forthcoming addition rather than a completed facility.
