The concept
A staged, roughly NZ$20-35 million conversion of the Stamford Plaza Auckland — itself a conversion of The Regent, New Zealand's first five-star hotel when it opened in 1984 — into Marriott's JW Marriott brand, its debut in the country. The building's third life keeps the original 1984 tower but rebuilds the public spaces and dining around JW's wellness-oriented positioning, including a planned JW Garden multi-sensory space.
