citizenM opened its second Seattle hotel in Pioneer Square in spring 2022, a ground-up ten-story building with 216 of the brand's signature compact, tech-forward rooms and a facade mosaic by a local artist. It sits on a long-vacant lot near the site of the city's first sawmill.

The place

Sits at 60 Yesler Way on the edge of Pioneer Square, on a site that had been vacant for years near where Seattle's first sawmill once stood.

The concept

citizenM's second Seattle hotel is a ground-up, ten-story, LEED Gold building whose brick-and-glass facade was designed to sit comfortably among the district's 19th-century brick warehouses. It follows the brand's standard playbook — compact, roughly 160-square-foot rooms with tablet-controlled lighting and entertainment, communal ground-floor 'living room' spaces instead of a conventional lobby — but leans harder than most citizenM properties into local art, with a facade mosaic of more than 5,000 porcelain tiles by a local artist referencing regional and indigenous imagery, plus further commissioned works inside. For Pioneer Square, a neighborhood mostly defined by adaptive reuse of old brick buildings, a genuinely new-build hotel of this scale was a distinct kind of addition — the project won a regional industrial/office development award the year it opened.

Dining & wellness

CanteenM operates as a 24-hour bar-restaurant off the lobby, alongside societyM meeting spaces; there is no separate spa.
