1 Hotel Seattle

1 Hotel Seattle opened in April 2025 in the former Pan Pacific building at 2125 Terry Avenue, in South Lake Union. SH Hotels & Resorts, the company founded by Barry Sternlicht, announced in June 2024 that it would take over the property and convert it to the 1 Hotels brand, which launched in 2015. The hotel stayed open to guests during the work. It has 153 rooms and suites. The company says the project is pursuing LEED Silver certification.

The place

The hotel sits at 2125 Terry Avenue, next to Climate Pledge Arena, in the part of South Lake Union that Amazon's campus and the biotech offices around it fill with daytime workers. Lake Union Park and the Amazon Spheres are a short walk away, the Seattle Center and the Space Needle about fifteen minutes on foot, Pike Place Market roughly twenty.

The South Lake Union streetcar runs along Westlake, and Interstate 5 is reachable via Mercer Street. Nightlife nearby is limited once the offices empty.

The concept

The 1 Hotels brand builds its interiors from natural and reclaimed materials. In Seattle that means reclaimed timber, stacked stone and stone-clad millwork in the public areas, custom live-edge furniture, moss art, and a green wall with native plants running through the lobby.

Rooms have wood floors, side tables cut from reclaimed tree trunks, undyed fabrics and a stone-tiled shower floor with refillable Bamford amenities. Each has a filtered water tap and carafes made from reused wine bottles, and the hotel says it uses no single-use plastics. Bed linens are locally sourced and the mattresses are described as organic and non-toxic. Categories run from City King, Hillside King and Cityscape King to studio suites, junior suites with terraces, Space Needle view rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites, with connecting rooms available. A higher floor is the way to get skyline or Space Needle views. Eight rooms are fully accessible, with roll-in showers or accessible tubs.

On the environmental side, the hotel targets a 37 percent cut in water use and reports diverting 70 percent of its construction waste, with a goal of 90 percent waste diversion in operation through a zero-waste program. A clothing donation scheme called 1 Less Thing passes guests' used clothes to a local charity, and a fully electric Audi e-tron is available to guests.

Dining & wellness

La Loba is the main restaurant, in a plant-filled, timber-accented room. Chef Oscar Amador Edo, born in Barcelona, nominated for a James Beard award and a veteran of El Bulli, cooks a Spanish menu offered as a seasonal tasting or à la carte. Dishes reported include a smoked candied salmon montadito, tableside beef tartare with bone marrow and a sauce flight, and a tarte flambée with pastrami and manchego. A private dining room, the Emerald Room, is available for groups.

Drift is the lobby bar and lounge, with cocktails and mocktails.
