The Hari Hong Kong
The Harilela family's second Hari hotel brings Tara Bernerd's mid-century palette to Wan Chai
Open · December 2020
The Hari Hong Kong opened on 12 December 2020 in Wan Chai as the Harilela family's second Hari property, after the brand's original hotel in London's Belgravia. Designed by Tara Bernerd & Partners, the 210-room hotel opened into a market almost entirely closed to international travel, relying on domestic staycation demand in its first year.

The concept
The Hari Hong Kong opened on 12 December 2020 as the second hotel from the Harilela family's Hari brand, after the original in London's Belgravia. British designer Tara Bernerd & Partners was briefed to carry over the London original's polished, mid-century-inflected sensibility — velvet, corduroy, leather and dark timber — while adapting it to the busier, more mixed commercial-residential character of Wan Chai. The 210 rooms and suites include three special suites with navy and grey tweeds, bronze rails and marble coffee tables, and the hotel curates its art collection with London's Pontone Gallery.
Dining & wellness
Zoku Restaurant & Terrace, led by chef de cuisine Phillip Pak, serves modern Japanese cuisine with Nikkei influences — sushi, sashimi, tempura and kushiyaki — under an origami-patterned ceiling. Lucciola serves Italian cuisine, and the hotel also operates a terrace bar and a living art gallery.
