The place

The hotel is rising on Hutchinson Island, across the Savannah River from the Historic District, directly connected to the Savannah Convention Center, which completed a $276 million expansion in February 2025. The island has no historic core of its own; access from downtown runs via bridge or the hybrid waterjet ferries that already shuttle convention traffic across the river, making the project a bet on convention demand rather than the pedestrian tourist market the rest of Savannah's new hotels are chasing.

The concept

The Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority, in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, broke ground on the $398 million project on October 8, 2025, with Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality serving as co-developers. At 444 rooms, it will be built as the convention center's headquarters hotel, carrying more than 34,000 square feet of meeting space including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, alongside a Club Signia premium floor and smart-room technology across the guest room block. Signia by Hilton is the company's dedicated large-scale convention and meetings brand, distinct from the standard Hilton Hotels & Resorts flag, and this property is one of a handful of Signia-branded hotels in development nationally, a sign of how directly Savannah's tourism authorities are chasing group and convention business rather than leisure travelers alone.

Dining & wellness

Plans call for five food and beverage outlets, including a chef-driven restaurant, a rooftop bar with river views and a grab-and-go market, plus an outdoor pool and a fitness center. None of these has opened yet; all details remain as announced by the developers rather than confirmed on site.
