Recess Hotel & Club
A new lifestyle-hotel brand returns Savannah's 1913 Manger Building to hospitality after nearly five decades as offices
Announced · September 2026
Left Lane Hospitality's debut hotel brand, Recess Hotel & Club, is converting Savannah's 1913 Manger Building — a former grand hotel that spent decades as office space — back into a 221-room lifestyle hotel and clubhouse near Johnson Square. The project pairs a French brasserie and rooftop pool with Saltgrass, Left Lane's own circuit-based wellness concept, and is targeting a September 2026 opening.

The concept
The Manger Building opened in 1913 as the Savannah Hotel, a 200-room Beaux-Arts property designed by W.L. Stoddart that grew to 300 rooms with a 1921 addition and later operated as the Manger Hotel until 1977, when it closed and was converted to office use in 1985. Left Lane Hospitality, a new lifestyle-hotel brand from the vertically integrated Left Lane development and design firm, is converting the building back into a hotel for the first time in nearly fifty years, working with hospitality design firm Atelier Pond on what the developer calls a 'new old school' aesthetic. The Recess Hotel & Club is intended to launch Left Lane's brand and is slated to join Leading Hotels of the World, though that affiliation had not yet been confirmed as finalized in sourcing found for this entry.
Dining & wellness
A French brasserie, a rooftop pool and bar, co-working spaces, a two-story event space, and Saltgrass — Left Lane's in-house wellness brand — offering a circuit-based spa and fitness format with a sound temple, steam room, cold plunge and biohacking lounge.
