Hotel Bardo Savannah

Hotel Bardo Savannah opened in February 2024 in an 1888 mansion on Forsyth Park previously operated as The Mansion on Forsyth Park, an Autograph Collection hotel. Left Lane bought the property for $52.5 million in 2022, gutted it, and relaunched it with 149 rooms, a members-only social club and an Italian restaurant as its own independent brand rather than reflagging it.

The place

The hotel sits at 700 Drayton Street on the southern edge of Forsyth Park, Savannah's largest and most photographed green space, in the Landmark Historic District. The address puts guests inside the residential grid south of the tourist-heavy River Street corridor, closer to SCAD's campus buildings and the park's fountain than to the riverfront hotels a mile north.

The concept

Left Lane, a New York real estate and hospitality firm with no prior hotel operating history, paid $52.5 million in June 2022 for the property then known as The Mansion on Forsyth Park, an Autograph Collection hotel that Kessler Collection had run in a Southern Gothic mansion built in 1888. Left Lane closed the property in phases from mid-2023, gutted and expanded it, and reopened it in February 2024 as Hotel Bardo Savannah — a full operator and brand change, not a renovation under the same flag. Atelier Pond led interiors with architecture firm LS3P, applying what the team calls a 'riot clash' approach: Victorian millwork, contemporary furniture and a diverse art collection layered into the same rooms so the 115,000-square-foot property reads as though it accumulated its look over decades rather than in one renovation. The hotel positions itself as an urban resort built around membership as much as room nights: Club Bardo, a paid social club with its own lounge and programming, sits alongside the guest rooms and is central to Left Lane's stated plan to expand the Bardo brand into other secondary US markets.

Dining & wellness

Saint Bibiana, an Italian restaurant and cooking school led by executive chef Derek Simcik, occupies the original 1888 mansion and is the property's culinary anchor; Bar Bibi serves poolside Italian fare, and The Green Room operates as the lobby bar. A 25-meter pool with a shallow conversation area anchors the resort's outdoor space, backed by Saltgrass, a fitness and wellness facility, and Club Bardo's private lounge.
