The place

801 W. Madison Street, at the edge of Chicago's West Loop and Fulton Market district.

The concept

Built in 1912 as the Mid-City Trust & Savings Bank and designated a Chicago Landmark in 2012, the building later served as Mid-City Bank and then MB Financial's corporate offices before sitting vacant from 2005 onward. The Neighborhood Hotel paid $14 million for the six-story building and, after a renovation permit was issued in August 2024, is converting it into a 76-room hotel with roughly 22,000 square feet of added commercial and retail space, following the same adaptive-reuse playbook as its Little Italy property. The former bank vaults are being repurposed into a whiskey bar and coffee lounge.

Dining & wellness

The historic bank vaults become a whiskey bar and coffee lounge; no separate restaurant has been announced.
