LondonHouse Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton, opened in May 2016 inside the landmark 1923 London Guarantee & Accident Building on the Chicago River, paired with a new tower addition by Goettsch Partners. The 452-room hotel's best-known feature is a tri-level rooftop built into the building's restored historic cupola.

The place
360 North Michigan Avenue, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive on the Chicago River — the former site of Fort Dearborn, in the heart of the Loop.
The concept
LondonHouse combines the 1923 London Guarantee & Accident Building, designed by Alfred S. Alschuler, with a new 22-storey tower addition by Goettsch Partners rising behind the historic façade — the building had never previously operated as a hotel. The name recalls both the original building and the LondonHouse jazz club once housed inside it, which hosted performers including Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck and Ramsey Lewis. Oxford Capital Group developed the conversion, which opened under Hilton's Curio Collection in May 2016.
Dining & wellness
The building's restored historic cupola holds a tri-level rooftop with dining and event space overlooking the river and Michigan Avenue, in addition to a lobby-level bar.
