Hotel Julian, the original flagship of Oxford Hotels & Resorts' Hotel Julian brand, opened in fall 2018 inside the historic Atlantic Bank Building facing Millennium Park. The $75M adaptive-reuse project added a five-storey glass addition atop the 1920s bank while keeping original brickwork exposed in the lobby and restaurant.

The place

168 North Michigan Avenue, diagonally across from Millennium Park in the Loop.

The concept

Hotel Julian occupies the historic Atlantic Bank Building, originally designed by architect Benjamin Marshall — a $75M adaptive-reuse project by Oxford Capital Group and Quadrum Global that added a five-storey glass addition on top of the 1920s structure while preserving original details, including century-old brick, in the lobby and restaurant. It is the original Chicago flagship of the Hotel Julian brand; a second property, Hotel Julian San Francisco, opened later at a separate address.

Dining & wellness

About Last Knife, a modern take on the steakhouse with a progressive beverage programme, occupies the ground floor with both indoor and outdoor seating.
