The Hoxton, Chicago opened in April 2019 as the brand's first Midwest hotel, a 182-room new build at 200 N. Green Street in the Fulton Market District. Chef Stephanie Izard's Cabra anchors the rooftop with Peruvian-inspired food around a seasonal pool, alongside Cira restaurant, Lazy Bird bar and a members' coworking space.

The place

The hotel stands at 200 N. Green Street in Fulton Market, the former meatpacking and produce district that spent the 2010s converting into Chicago's densest concentration of restaurants, design showrooms and tech offices — anchored nearby by Google's Midwest headquarters in the old Fulton Market Cold Storage building. The Hoxton's arrival tracked that shift rather than led it, joining a neighbourhood already established as the city's most talked-about dining destination.

The concept

The Hoxton, Chicago is a purpose-built new construction rather than a conversion, the London-founded brand's first Midwest property and part of its US expansion following Portland, Chicago, Williamsburg and Downtown LA. The 182 rooms run from compact Snug rooms to larger Roomy categories, furnished with solid-oak pieces, panelled leather headboards and bedding designed with Chicago artist Cody Hudson, behind floor-to-ceiling industrial-style windows facing the neighbourhood's low-rise skyline.

Dining & wellness

Cabra, a Peruvian-inspired rooftop restaurant and bar from chef Stephanie Izard (Girl & the Goat), anchors the hotel's food and drink program with ceviche and pisco cocktails around a seasonal outdoor pool. Cira serves Mediterranean-leaning all-day dining on the ground floor, and Lazy Bird is a cocktail bar with live music several nights a week. Working From_, a members' coworking space, and a gym with Pelotons round out the amenities.

Stopped in for a business event here in June 2026. All the hotels in this part of town were all booked up and was fortunate to find this spot. It was comparatively expensive but so were all the hotels this week and as such not terrible. The hotel is boutique and has a charm to match. It is cozy and setup just right for the decor and flare it brings. It gives off an old time charm with the way the furnishings and the bathrooms are laid out and for this part of Chicago just right. The staff was extremely helpful and available. There are plenty of eating establishments and restaurants in the area withing walking distance and easy to navigate and get around. When back in the area I might opt to stay here again. This property has a speakeasy in the bottom/basement floor which is pretty cool. The lobby restaurant and bar fun and depending on the evening crowded with vibe of excitement.

Posh hotel in a decent location with shops, market and activities nearby. Check-in process was easy and the 2 girls working the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Fun lobby with neat bar, plenty of places to sit and a DJ playing to create the vibe (we checked in on a Saturday). Wanted to try dessert at the Milk bar, but also had to be in a swimsuit, so held off. Rooms were clean and decorated with character. Small bathroom, but big enough for one person to use comfortably. Nice size room with coffee/tea and the pictured clothes rack. The train ran right by the hotel and was noticeable but not obnoxious and easy to tune out after the first few times it went by. No iron or steamer, so might want to bring your own. Nice view of the rec area by the market. Pickleball, picnic tables, food trucks and a soccer area with World Cup streaming on a large screen. Looked like a fun outdoor hangout for a pretty day. Rooftop pool was very small with limited beach loungers. Pool was comfortable and clean. Towels available on the pool deck with a full bar and outdoor bathrooms. There is a restaurant to the right when you walk off the elevators. A DJ was playing music by the pool, which was nice unless you want a quiet spot to lay out. Only wish there were more lounge areas, but we were able to eventually get 2 as people left.

So much false advertising. I rarely write bad reviews, but no discount for taking the train to the venue (online it claims you get a $20 discount). We took public transportation instead of an Uber just to be told CTA Blue doesn’t count. We booked on their website because it says then you can checkout at 4PM. They didn’t honor that once we arrived in Chicago. Close friends booked this venue as their room block hotel for their wedding. When we returned to the hotel for a small (20 ppl) after party after the reception, we were told they were closed. All publicly available information says the establishment is open until 2AM. When we returned around 1:05AM, they told us that last call was at 1AM and that we could not drink at any bars at the establishment. There were literally 10+ people on staff, just looking at their phones. They were not cleaning, they were not prepping for tomorrow, they just decided to close early because it was slow that night and likely got paid to do nothing. Overall, it’s a good hotel, but the lying is out of control. Would not recommend and buyer beware because this establishment makes promises it will not honor.

The good: Staff is very attentive Rooms are bright with open views Real milk in room fridge for free, along with coffee pods and kettle Great location in West Loop Great lobby and coffee bar, multiple restaurants The bad: The hotel sits right next to subway tracks, and you can hear train vibrations in rooms that face the street The ac/heating system isn’t easy to adjust (buttons feel broken) and the blower is noisy Room smelled heavily of air freshener Bathroom door closes automatically You can hear all of your neighbors close their doors - room and bathroom. And corridor noise not blocked at all

Very nice hotel. Trendy, fun decor and vibe. Very friendly and professional staff. Downside is the rooms are small and not too practical. Very little countertop space by sink; no real space to put your luggage; A/C in the room is VERY loud.
