Kimpton Hotel Fontenot opened in May 2022, Kimpton's return to New Orleans after 16 years away, named for Creole fiddle player Canray Fontenot. The 235-room hotel in the Central Business District later expanded into the building next door, adding the French brasserie King.

The place

501-521 Tchoupitoulas Street, in New Orleans' Central Business District/Warehouse District, on the former site of a Staybridge Suites.

The concept

Kimpton's return to New Orleans after a 16-year absence, designed by New York firm MarkZeff and named for Canray Fontenot, a Creole fiddle player. A later expansion into the historic building next door added 33 rooms and over 12,000 sq ft of meeting and event space.

Dining & wellness

King, a French brasserie added with the hotel's expansion; the Peacock Room bar; and Gospel, a coffee and pastry counter.
