Fairmont New Orleans occupies 18 floors of the tower that housed the Bank of New Orleans, at 1010 Common Street. The 31-story skyscraper, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 1971, is the city's tenth tallest. The hotel has 250 rooms and marks the return of the Fairmont brand to New Orleans.

The place
The tower stands in the Central Business District, one block from the French Quarter.
The concept
The developer is Kailas Companies, whose president, Mohan Kailas, calls the project one of the largest private investments in the city in recent years. Rockwell Group leads the design, and Bentley Legacy manages the hotel.
Early announcements pointed to a summer 2025 opening. The schedule slipped, and current sources say June 2026.
Of the 250 rooms, 40 are suites, from one-bedroom to specialty formats. Function space exceeds 20,000 square feet, split between ballrooms, meeting rooms, a library and a business center.
Dining & wellness
Three venues are planned: an all-day restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a rooftop bar and speakeasy above a swimming pool with views of the city.
The spa covers 10,000 square feet.
