Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montréal
Hyatt's lifestyle-brand debut in Canada rises new-build within Old Montreal's Place Gare Viger campus, beside a preserved 1898 railway château

Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montréal, a 177-room new-build hotel within Old Montreal's Place Gare Viger campus, opened in March 2023 as the Hyatt Centric brand's first property in Canada. The place
The hotel is part of Place Gare Viger, a new urban campus built around Place Viger in Old Montreal, on the site of one of Canada's first railway stations and former terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. It sits a few steps from the historic clock tower on the waterfront and close to Square Dalhousie, within the same development as new office space, retail and residences, but is a distinct new building from the château-style 1898 Hôtel Viger station on the same campus, which is occupied by office tenants rather than the hotel itself.
The concept
Developed by global real estate firm Jesta Group and designed by Montreal firm Provencher Roy, with lobby and meeting spaces by local studio Ivy Studio, Hyatt Centric Ville-Marie Montréal opened as the Hyatt Centric brand's first Canadian property. The building's facade — Normand brick, white polished concrete and zinc metal — draws on the neighboring château, the area's historic church roofs and the nearby waterfront clock tower, while the lobby takes its cue from the Jacques Cartier Bridge, with metal arches, wood paneling, terrazzo floors and railway-inspired artwork. The 177 rooms, including five 600-square-foot suites with king beds and views over Square Dalhousie, are designed with compact, multifunctional layouts — 55-inch TVs, keyless entry via the World of Hyatt app, blackout curtains and a minifridge among the standard features. Four meeting and event spaces on the main level, equipped with Encore Global audiovisual technology, look onto either the street or an interior courtyard.
Dining & wellness
Cartier Arms, the hotel's on-site restaurant from Montreal's Burgundy Lion Group, serves Québec-British fusion cuisine and handcrafted cocktails across a 130-seat dining room, a 30-person terrace and a 20-person private dining room, themed around the turn-of-the-century golden age of the railroad. A rooftop pool was added for summer 2023, several months after the hotel's own opening.
