Marriott's boutique-minded Tribute Portfolio brand touched down in Montreal for the first time in June 2023 with the opening of HONEYROSE, a 143-room hotel in the Quartier des Spectacles. Behind its art-deco facade, the property builds its entire identity around a honey-and-roses motif, down to a working rooftop apiary, while three Montreal design firms translated 1920s glamour into a thoroughly contemporary boutique stay.

The place
HONEYROSE stands at 355 Boulevard de Maisonneuve Ouest, in Le Quartier des Spectacles, Montreal's downtown cultural district, dense with theatres, concert halls and festival grounds including the site of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. The address puts guests within walking distance of the Quartier Latin, Place des Arts and the city's underground pedestrian network, roughly 20 kilometres from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. It is Marriott's first Tribute Portfolio property in the city, aimed at travellers who want a cultural-district base without the scale of a convention hotel.
The concept
HONEYROSE builds its identity around a single, literal conceit: honey and roses, symbols repeated from the name down to the detailing. Live beehives occupy the rooftop, roses recur in the textiles and in a mezzanine flower shop run in partnership with Montreal florist MFLEURS, and the overall palette of velvet, gold, brass and dark wood nods to Art Deco without tipping into pastiche. The building's architecture came from Architex Group, while Provencher Roy handled the interior architecture of guest rooms, suites, corridors and meeting spaces, and Atelier Zébulon Perron designed the public-facing lobby, restaurant and café — a three-way collaboration that gives the hotel a layered, slightly theatrical feel suited to a neighbourhood built around performance venues. Guest rooms carry original paintings by Montreal artist Roxy Peroxyde, and the property positions itself as a Luxury Boutique offering, smaller in scale and more idiosyncratic than a typical big-brand downtown hotel, while still running on Marriott Bonvoy's loyalty program and distribution. A 15th-floor wellness level, with a gym, dry sauna, spa and indoor pool overlooking the skyline, sits alongside more than 7,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom for over 300 guests, rounding out a program built for both leisure stays and Montreal's conference and event calendar.
Dining & wellness
Food and beverage centres on COMMODORE, a French bistro-style restaurant and adjoining café serving brunch through dinner, and Muze Lounge & Terrasse, a Mediterranean- and California-influenced spot with a seasonal rooftop terrace featuring original artwork by set designer Juliette Sarrazin. For private events, Julia's Workshop offers a dedicated dining room and chef's table. Wellness extends past the kitchen: the 15th floor houses a movement studio running complimentary Essentrics classes, a dry sauna, spa services and an indoor pool overlooking the city skyline.
