The concept

Opened with a ribbon-cutting on December 6, 2021, The Ellison marked Tribute Portfolio's — and Marriott's — first entry into Oklahoma. The 120-room, six-level hotel is named after native Oklahoman author and musician Ralph Ellison, and its interiors lean into the state's creative and musical heritage rather than a generic boutique look. The hotel briefly closed in February 2022 for smoke remediation after a fire at a neighboring building, reopening that May; it has operated continuously since. As a purpose-built hotel rather than a converted structure, its main interest for the guide is brand and positioning: it gave Marriott's storytelling-driven Tribute Portfolio a foothold in Oklahoma City well outside the traditional downtown hotel cluster, betting on the Classen Curve's retail and dining draw instead.

Dining & wellness

Milo, the hotel's signature restaurant, takes its name from the milo sorghum grain grown in the region and serves a chef-driven menu; The Ellison Rooftop and Bar sits above the hotel with a pool and skyline views. The property also has roughly 3,750 square feet of meeting space.
