The concept Opened with a ribbon-cutting on December 6, 2021, The Ellison marked Tribute Portfolio's, and Marriott's, first entry into Oklahoma. The 120-room, six-level hotel is named after native Oklahoman author and musician Ralph Ellison, and its interiors lean into the state's creative and musical heritage rather than a generic boutique look. The hotel briefly closed in February 2022 for smoke remediation after a fire at a neighboring building, reopening that May; it has operated continuously since.
As a purpose-built hotel rather than a converted structure, its main interest for the guide is brand and positioning: it gave Marriott's storytelling-driven Tribute Portfolio a foothold in Oklahoma City well outside the traditional downtown hotel cluster, betting on the Classen Curve's retail and dining draw instead.
Dining & wellness Milo, the hotel's signature restaurant, takes its name from the milo sorghum grain grown in the region and serves a chef-driven menu; The Ellison Rooftop and Bar sits above the hotel with a pool and skyline views. The property also has roughly 3,750 square feet of meeting space.
Our take A solid, well-located upscale-lifestyle property, but the Ralph Ellison narrative is more compelling on the plaque than in the room design: worth booking for Milo and the rooftop pool more than for architectural ambition.

We had a wonderful stay at The Ellison in Oklahoma City, but the real star of our experience was Wallace.
I made the mistake of booking through a third-party site, and when we arrived, our reservation was completely messed up. For a few stressful minutes, it looked like we might not have a room at all. After a long day of traveling, I was more than a little panicked—and if I’m honest, I probably wasn’t at my best.
Wallace never missed a beat. He stayed calm, kind, and professional throughout the entire situation. He worked diligently to help us secure a room, reassured us when I was worried, and then even helped with our luggage once everything was resolved.
Because of him, what could have been a vacation nightmare turned into a great stay.
The hotel itself was beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. We especially enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant each morning. From our room, I could see the rooftop pool and bar area, and while my husband isn’t much of a pool person and I won’t venture down alone, it looked like a fantastic spot with a great atmosphere.
Thank you to The Ellison for a lovely stay, and a special thank you to Wallace for exceptional customer service. Employees like him are the reason guests come back.
Today marks our departure... a somewhat somber occasion. It was lovely to have had the opportunity to spend a couple of days away from home. We drove in from South of Dallas for WCWS.
Our stay at the Ellison Hotel was truly delightful. The Location was truly near everything. Seriously, everytime we GPS something " your location is 2.9 miles".
Now, From the friendliness and continuous smiles of the front desk staff to engaging conversations with management and the exceptional housekeeping service, our experience was top-notch. Housekeeping demonstrated remarkable above and beyond kindness, assisting me with zipping my clothes, a challenge with one hand, (post shoulder replacement), she even helped me with my brace while I was dressing for dinner. She also saw me having difficulty and helped with styling my hair. Her gentle and caring nature was outstanding. I was so flustered I didn't get her name. I did however notify her superior.
As we bid farewell, a few hugs were exchanged. We cannot wait to return next spring. Boomer Sooners & Wreck Em Tech! (house divided)!
I recently stayed at the The Ellison Hotel for a wedding weekend, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, Nicole at the front desk set the tone for the entire stay. She checked us in quickly, was incredibly welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Throughout the weekend, she continued to be helpful, friendly, and genuinely invested in making our stay great. It’s rare to come across someone who delivers that level of service so consistently.
The hotel itself was just as impressive. The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable—exactly what you want after a long day of wedding events. The overall atmosphere of the hotel felt upscale yet relaxed, and every interaction we had with staff was positive.
Between the excellent service, beautiful accommodations, and Nicole’s exceptional hospitality, this was easily one of the best hotel stays I’ve had. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again the next time I’m in Oklahoma City.

I had a very pleasant stay at The Ellison Hotel and was genuinely impressed with the overall experience. From the moment I arrived, everything felt welcoming, comfortable, and well-maintained. The hotel was very clean throughout, which is always one of the most important factors for me when traveling, and it was clear that the property is cared for with attention to detail.
The staff was especially friendly and helpful, and their professionalism really added to the positive experience. Everyone I encountered was courteous, approachable, and made me feel welcome during my stay. That kind of service can make a big difference, and it definitely stood out to me here.
My room was comfortable and made it easy to relax after a long day. The air conditioning worked very well, which was especially important, and it kept the room cool and comfortable the entire time. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was also very nice—calm, pleasant, and inviting without feeling overly busy or chaotic.
The location was another big plus. It worked out very well for what I needed during my trip and made getting around convenient. Having a hotel in a good location can really improve the overall stay, and that was definitely the case here.
I also appreciated the gym, which was a nice added amenity. It was great to have access to a fitness space on-site, and it contributed to the convenience and comfort of the stay.
Overall, I had a great experience at The Ellison Hotel. Between the cleanliness, friendly staff, comfortable room, good air conditioning, convenient location, nice gym, and enjoyable atmosphere, it was a very solid stay. I would definitely consider staying there again and would recommend it to others looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming hotel.

Great pool and events, restaurant is fantastic, gym amenities are quality as well as the morning lobby amenities, the location has every best breakfast and lunch option around if you want to go out. And of course the staff, the staff at this hotel are very friendly and thoughtful in each interaction!
