Nobu Hotel San Juan

Nobu Hospitality announced on 30 September 2026 that it will open a 50-room hotel and restaurant in San Juan in 2028, its first property in Puerto Rico and in the Caribbean, developed with the real estate firm KTT. A street-level Nobu restaurant and bar and a rooftop lounge are planned.

The place

Old San Juan, according to local press coverage of the announcement. Nobu Hospitality has not disclosed an exact address, a building or whether the hotel will occupy a historic structure; the announcement says only that it will combine the energy of the old city with the calm of a Nobu hotel.

Old San Juan is the walled historic district, with its forts, cobbled streets and dense dining scene.

The concept

Nobu Hospitality announced Nobu Hotel and Restaurant San Juan on 30 September 2026, marking the brand's debut in Puerto Rico and its first property in the Caribbean. The hotel will have 50 rooms, a signature Nobu restaurant and bar at street level and a rooftop lounge and bar.

The design brief is to reflect San Juan's character and heritage while keeping Nobu's contemporary aesthetic, and the service model rests on omotenashi, the Japanese idea of anticipating guests' needs. Nobu was founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper and says it operates 20 hotels, with around 30 more in development, including projects in Portugal, Barbuda and the Maldives. Chief executive Trevor Horwell called Puerto Rico one of the Caribbean's most compelling destinations.

The development partner is the real estate firm KTT, whose managing partner is Joakim Lehmkuhl. Opening is targeted for 2028. The investment amount, the architect and the building have not been announced.

Dining & wellness

A signature Nobu restaurant and bar is planned at street level, plus a rooftop lounge and bar. The menu has not been detailed.
