Alma occupies the restored Pisos de Don Juan building, Old San Juan's first Spanish Mediterranean Revival structure, a block from Plaza Colón. The 56-room boutique hotel opened independently in December 2024 under Vivant Hospitality and joined Marriott's Autograph Collection in mid-2026, pairing a historic façade with Puerto Rican-driven dining from Andaluz and Mar y Rosa.

The concept

Alma occupies Old San Juan's first Spanish Mediterranean Revival building, pairing its restored façade with a contemporary, light-filled interior built around natural textures and sustainable materials. It opened in December 2024 as an independent boutique hotel operated by Vivant Hospitality, then joined Marriott's Autograph Collection in July 2026 as the brand's first property in the historic district — while keeping a locally rooted identity built on a curated art collection and a culinary program led by Puerto Rican chefs.

Dining & wellness

The hotel runs three food-and-beverage venues: Andaluz, the main restaurant serving Andalusian cuisine with Puerto Rican ingredients; Mar y Rosa, a rooftop dining and drinks venue with panoramic bay views; and Alma Café and Wine Bar at street level for coffee, light bites and natural wines. A rooftop plunge pool and an on-site fitness center round out the amenities; no spa is documented.
