Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde

Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde opened on December 17, 2025, the first Hyatt Centric in Puerto Rico and the sixth Hyatt property on the island. It is a $30 million renovation of the former Verdanza Hotel and has 223 rooms and suites. Guests get free shuttle access to Vivo Beach Club, an oceanfront venue run by the hotel's co-owners.

The place

The hotel is in Isla Verde, within walking distance of Isla Verde Beach, restaurants, nightlife and shopping, and a five-minute drive from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Old San Juan, El Yunque National Forest, the Financial District and the Convention District are all reachable by car.

The concept

The building is the former Verdanza Hotel, rebuilt for about $30 million. V Architecture, 3MG and Baskerville handled architecture and interiors, and EDSA the landscape. The design takes its cues from Puerto Rico's surroundings, the Atlantic, the Caribbean, sea corals and mountains.

Of the 223 rooms and suites, most have city views and some partial ocean views.

Ownership is split between Interlink and Vivo Beach Club. Luis and Matías Fernández own the beach club and co-own the hotel, and Highgate Hotels manages it. The other Hyatt properties on the island are Hyatt Place San Juan, Hyatt House San Juan, Hyatt Place Bayamón, Hyatt Place Manatí and Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico.

The hotel has more than 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including a rooftop terrace with ocean views. Pets are accepted.

Dining & wellness

Alba is the full-service restaurant, open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with Puerto Rican-inspired cooking. Espresso Lab, a coffee counter with local and artisanal selections, runs from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Efraín Cruz, a Puerto Rican chef, is executive chef over both outlets and the banquets.

The resort-style pool deck has a jacuzzi, an open-air restaurant and bar, and a splash pad for children. The fitness center is open 24 hours.

Vivo Beach Club, reached by the complimentary shuttle, has three pools, four restaurants and bars, the Ocean Lab Brewing Co. micro-brewery and an outdoor stage for 3,500 people.
