Moxy Cincinnati Downtown

Moxy Cincinnati Downtown opened in late April 2025 at 312 Main Street. It has 111 rooms and is the first Moxy in the Tri-State area, where the nearest ones were in Columbus and Louisville. Rolling Hills Hospitality developed it. The hotel joins a new seven-storey tower to three older buildings whose Italianate facades were kept.

The place

Main Street runs through Over-the-Rhine's edge and the downtown core, and number 312 is a block from Great American Ball Park and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The Banks riverfront district is within walking distance.

A game day at the ballpark is the obvious use of this address, though the street's restaurants and the riverfront serve the rest of the year.

The concept

The project is described as an adaptive reuse in which a newly built seven-storey tower stands behind three historic Italianate row buildings. The old fronts were structurally poor and had to be largely rebuilt behind the preserved faces before the buildings could be linked to the tower and operated as one hotel. City Studios Architecture handled the design with interior firm the Society.

The theme is what the developer calls modern Bavarian, a reference to the German immigrants who shaped nineteenth-century Cincinnati. It is applied as a twist on the brand's usual playful style, not as a replica of a beer hall.

Dining & wellness

The ground floor is built around Bar Moxy, which handles check-in and works as a coffee shop by day and a bar at night. Warm wood, brass, soft leather seating and communal tables define the room, and details refer to the Cincinnati Reds and the city's flying pig emblem. Studio Outrider's Casey Scalf is credited with the space, and Rolling Hills Hospitality says it aimed for a room welcoming to locals as well as guests.

On the seventh floor, a rooftop bar looks across downtown, listed under the name The Chase Rooftop Bar. An earlier announcement called it Observerie, so the name changed between plan and opening. An outdoor courtyard completes the public spaces.
