Kinley Cincinnati Downtown opened in October 2020 inside the long-vacant Jeweler's Exchange Building on Race Street, converting a 1915 office landmark into a 94-room boutique hotel on the border of Downtown and Over-the-Rhine. It later joined Marriott's Tribute Portfolio.

The place

Kinley sits at 636 Race Street, on the seam between Downtown and Over-the-Rhine, inside the nine-story former Jeweler's Exchange (also known as the Denton) Building, a 1915 office landmark that had sat empty for years before its conversion.

The concept

Kinley opened in October 2020 as Vision Hospitality Group's debut of its own Kinley brand, later folded into Marriott's Tribute Portfolio. The renovation kept the shell of A.O. Elzner's early-20th-century office building — ornate stonework, tall windows, a historic mural on the exterior — while building 94 rooms that are each laid out differently, from a compact Bunk Room to the corner Denton Suite. Cincinnati Art Underground curated original local art for the public spaces and guestrooms, tying the hotel explicitly to the city's contemporary art scene rather than a generic boutique template.

Dining & wellness

The Exchange Lobby Bar anchors the ground floor, alongside the more casual Unexpected Burgers & Bourbon; the hotel also runs a 24-hour fitness center with Technogym equipment and Peloton bikes.
