InterContinental Brisbane opened on 1 July 2025 at 190 Elizabeth Street. It is the brand's first hotel in Brisbane and its third in Queensland, after InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. The tower has 25 floors and 319 rooms and suites. It was designed by the modernist architect Harry Seidler and is the only hotel in Australia he designed. It previously operated as the Hilton Brisbane, which closed on 31 March 2025 after nearly 40 years.

The place
The hotel stands in the central business district, inside the Queen Street Mall shopping precinct and a short walk from the river. Rooms and suites look over the city.
IHG operates the hotel under a long-term management agreement with ISPT, a property funds manager. ISPT's redevelopment of the 150 Elizabeth Street precinct links the hotel with the Wintergarden and the Regent Theatre, mixing retail, dining, entertainment and hospitality. The company wants to turn this stretch of Elizabeth Street into a hub for tourism, entertainment and dining. The hotel was first scheduled to open in early June 2025. It came ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which Brisbane will host.
The concept
IHG presents the hotel as its luxury flagship in Queensland. A two-year renovation is planned from 2026, meant to raise the guest experience while keeping Seidler's architectural heritage intact, so the rooms on sale today are not the final version of the hotel.
The Club InterContinental lounge sits on level 25 with river views. Members get personalised check-in, twilight drinks and canapés, and a daily breakfast.
For events, the hotel has 19 meeting rooms and one of the larger ballrooms in the city. The general manager is Shaun Parsons. IHG runs 69 hotels in Australasia across nine brands and has 26 more in the pipeline.
Dining & wellness
Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen is both the all-day restaurant and the lobby bar. It was the only dining outlet presented at the opening.
The hotel also has an outdoor lap pool and a gymnasium. There is no spa.
News
July 1, 2025: IHG announced the official opening of InterContinental Brisbane at 190 Elizabeth Street. The 25-storey Harry Seidler building has 319 rooms and suites, 19 meeting rooms, a large ballroom, Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen, an outdoor lap pool, a gymnasium and a Club InterContinental lounge on level 25. A two-year renovation is planned from 2026.
April 17, 2025: IHG and the property funds manager ISPT announced that the former Hilton Brisbane would become InterContinental Brisbane under a long-term management agreement, with an opening first scheduled for early June 2025. The announcement described 321 guest rooms, four restaurants and bars, and a two-year transformation to follow, and presented the hotel as the third InterContinental in Queensland.
