Hotel SOMA opened May 1, 2026 in Fort Worth's South Main Village, trading a conventional hotel building for 31 standalone tiny-home casitas and four Airstream suites around a courtyard. The $13 million project from local owners Will Moncrief and Lane Loiselle leans into art, community programming and neighborhood access over full-service amenities.

The place

Hotel SOMA sits at 454 Cleveland Avenue in South Main Village, part of Fort Worth's Near Southside, just west of South Main Street's restaurant-and-bar strip.

The concept

A $13 million ground-up project from Fort Worth native Will Moncrief and co-owner Lane Loiselle, Hotel SOMA opened May 1, 2026 as a low-rise cluster of 31 standalone tiny-home casitas plus four custom-built Airstream suites arranged around a landscaped courtyard with an illuminated oak tree. Casitas have full kitchens, soaring ceilings and lofted sleeping areas — closer in feel to a stylish tiny home than a conventional hotel room — with rotating artwork sourced through the William Campbell Gallery available for purchase in each unit. The concept is explicitly community-first rather than full-service: SOMA positions itself as a gateway into South Main Village, encouraging guests out to the neighborhood's restaurants and bars rather than keeping them on property, with amenities limited to a courtyard, pickleball court and fire pits plus a forthcoming outdoor bar.

Dining & wellness

An outdoor bar serving beer, wine and cocktails was planned to follow the casitas' opening; there is no full-service restaurant on site, and dining is oriented toward South Main Village's neighboring establishments. Details to be confirmed on the bar's operating status.
