citizenM Miami Brickell
citizenM's first Miami property, in Brickell's financial district
Open · July 2022
citizenM opened its first Miami hotel on July 20, 2022, a 20-story, 252-room tower at 11 SE 10th Street in Brickell, the city's financial district. Designed by Amsterdam studio Concrete with Gensler as executive architect, the building brought the Dutch brand's compact, tech-forward room formula to South Florida for the first time, topped by CloudM, citizenM's first rooftop pool anywhere in its portfolio. The facade carries five large-scale artworks by Miami-born artist Jen Stark, work that took roughly three years to complete after ground was broken in 2019.

The place
The hotel sits on South Miami Avenue in Brickell, three minutes' walk from Brickell Metromover and Metrorail station, in the cluster of bank towers, law firms and condominium high-rises that make up Miami's financial district. Southside Park and the waterfront dining along the Miami River are close by, and the Port of Miami and Miami International Airport are both a short ride away. Brickell's daytime population of office workers gives citizenM a built-in weekday audience, while its restaurants, bars and Mary Brickell Village shopping have made the neighborhood a draw for weekend visitors as well, a mix that has attracted a wave of new hotel development in recent years.
The concept
citizenM Miami Brickell is the brand's first property in Florida, arriving fourteen years after citizenM's 2008 launch in Amsterdam and following the standardized room format that has defined the brand since: identical, space-efficient rooms fitted with an XL king-size bed, wall-to-wall window, rainfall shower and a tablet controlling lighting, blinds, climate and entertainment. Concrete, the Amsterdam design studio behind citizenM's look worldwide, handled interiors, with Gensler serving as executive architect on the 20-story tower. The building leans on local identity rather than a generic transplant of the brand: the exterior displays five large-scale pieces by Jen Stark, a Miami-born artist, and the property is positioned as citizenM's debut in a market the brand would return to just months later with a second, larger hotel at Miami Worldcenter. CloudM, the rooftop pool and bar, is a first for the brand — earlier citizenM properties have rooftop bars, but Miami Brickell was the first to add a pool, a response to the climate and to a Miami hotel market where a rooftop pool is close to table stakes. Construction ran roughly three years from a 2019 groundbreaking to the July 2022 opening.
Dining & wellness
canteenM, citizenM's round-the-clock bar-and-restaurant concept, serves coffee and breakfast in the morning, salads and sandwiches through the day, and cocktails and beer on tap into the evening, all from the ground-floor lobby. The same floor also houses Negroni, a restaurant reported at the hotel's opening. CloudM, the rooftop pool and bar, serves canned cocktails and a limited grab-and-go menu with skyline views over downtown Miami. A 24-hour gym and eight societyM meeting rooms round out the amenities; there is no room service, consistent with citizenM's model elsewhere.
