The Rover Miami

A ten-room independent hotel occupying a renovated apartment building one block off Calle Ocho, The Rover Miami soft-launched in December 2025 in the heart of Little Havana. Each room is hung with work by neighborhood artists, and the property positions itself as a base for exploring the district on foot and by bike rather than a self-contained resort with its own restaurant or bar.

The place

The Rover sits on SW 9th Street, one block off Calle Ocho, in the residential fringe of Little Havana rather than on the avenue's tourist strip. Domino Park, the Tower Theater and the Ball & Chain nightclub are all within a five-to-ten-minute walk, so the hotel works as a base for guests who want to walk the neighborhood rather than be driven to it. The location trades resort-style seclusion for proximity to a working Cuban-American neighborhood, which is the point of the property.

The concept

The hotel occupies a former multifamily residential building that was renovated rather than demolished and rebuilt, a small-scale example of adaptive reuse in a part of Miami where new hotel construction is rare. The ten rooms — six standard rooms named after figures such as Celia Cruz and Ernest Hemingway, and four suites with Miami and Havana themes — are hung with more than 40 works by Little Havana artists, the hotel's stated way of tying the design to the neighborhood rather than importing a generic boutique look. The target guest is an independent traveler drawn to the neighborhood itself rather than Miami Beach; the property positions itself as a base for exploring on foot and by bike, not a self-contained resort.

Dining & wellness

The Rover has no restaurant, bar, spa or pool of its own. Suites include a wet bar and a cocktail-making kit for in-room use, and a coffee and tea station plus complimentary bicycles are available to all guests. For food and drink, the hotel points guests to neighboring Calle Ocho addresses, including Ball & Chain a short walk away, rather than offering on-site dining.
