The place
Riversuites occupies 1325 N. Beach Street in Fishtown, part of The Battery, an 11-acre, $154 million redevelopment of the former Delaware River waterfront power station led by Philadelphia-based Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds.
The concept
The building started life in 1921 as the Delaware River Generating Station, a Beaux-Arts classical-revival power plant that by the 1950s was PECO's largest facility, generating more than 46 percent of the city's electricity before its 2008 decommissioning; its eight 167-foot chimneys still stand on the riverfront. Chicago-based interior design firm KOO fitted out 62 suites across four floors of the converted plant, with Philadelphia's Strada serving as architect of record for the wider Battery complex.
Rooms run one, two and three bedrooms, all with full kitchens, and some include private patios or bi-level lofts with an upstairs sleeping area over a downstairs living and kitchen space; the largest suites reach roughly 2,266 square feet: closer to short-term apartments than conventional hotel rooms. Riversuites is operated directly by Rivers Casino Philadelphia, giving guests access to the casino's loyalty program and a 24-hour complimentary shuttle to its gaming floor a short ride away.
Dining & wellness
There is no standalone restaurant on-site; guests reach Rivers Casino's eight dining and drinking outlets (including Martorano's Prime steakhouse, Sicilian Slice pizzeria and FLIPT burgers) via a five-minute, 24/7 complimentary shuttle. On-site amenities include co-working space, a billiards table and an indoor basketball court, alongside 24/7 complimentary valet parking.
