Four Seasons opened its first Philadelphia address in August 2019, occupying the top floors of Foster + Partners' Comcast Technology Center — at 1,121 feet, the tallest building between New York and Chicago. Its 219 rooms and suites come with the city's highest vantage point, a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant on floor 60, and a full-floor spa with an indoor infinity pool.

The place

The hotel sits inside Comcast's second Philadelphia tower, on the western edge of Center City near Logan Square and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway's museum row. Guests enter through a ground-floor lobby shared with Comcast's corporate campus before a dedicated elevator bank lifts them to floor 60 — height, here, is the entire proposition, with no comparable view available anywhere else in the city.

The concept

Norman Foster's practice designed both the tower and the hotel's interiors, a rare instance of architect and interior architect being the same firm across 400 vertical feet. The brief pushed toward a deliberately urban, unfussy luxury: exposed structural elements, a lobby anchored by a floral digital installation created with teamLab, and guest rooms that trade heavy ornament for glass, brass and long sightlines over the Schuylkill and Delaware rivers. It's Four Seasons' first Philadelphia property, aimed at business travelers tied to Comcast and Center City's law and finance firms, plus a leisure market drawn by the observation-deck-grade views.

Dining & wellness

Jean-Georges Vongerichten's namesake restaurant spans the 59th and 60th floors with a menu built around his contemporary French repertoire; SkyHigh, the adjoining lounge on 60, serves a more casual version of the same kitchen with cocktails and 360-degree views. The 57th floor is dedicated entirely to wellness: a Forbes Five-Star spa with seven treatment rooms, a fitness center developed with trainer Harley Pasternak, and a 30,000-gallon indoor infinity pool with glass walls facing the skyline.
