Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia
Hyatt's lifestyle brand lands in Rittenhouse with a quilt-patterned rooftop restaurant named for the city's neighborhoods.
Open · October 2020
Hyatt's lifestyle-focused Centric brand opened its first Philadelphia hotel in October 2020, a new-build tower just off Rittenhouse Square topped by Patchwork, a quilt-themed rooftop restaurant designed around the city's neighborhood identity. It was one of the largest new hotel openings in Center City that year.

The place
The hotel is a brand-new 13-story tower at 1620 Chancellor Street, just off Rittenhouse Square in Center City, five years in construction before its 2020 opening.
The concept
Hyatt Centric's debut in Philadelphia is a ground-up, roughly $81 million build rather than a conversion, aimed at the brand's exploration-minded lifestyle positioning. Rooms lean contemporary, with touches like in-room Drybar blow-dryers, and the hotel adds over 5,000 square feet of meeting space in a location that puts guests within walking distance of Rittenhouse Square, Center City shopping and the Avenue of the Arts.
Dining & wellness
The rooftop restaurant and bar Patchwork, designed by Brooklyn firm CRÈME and helmed by chef Jonathan Dearden, takes its name and quilt-patterned decor from Philadelphia's patchwork of neighborhoods and craft traditions, alongside a lobby bar, grab-and-go market and a rooftop bar.
