Majestic Las Vegas

Majestic Las Vegas, a proposed non-gaming, non-smoking luxury tower on the site of the old La Concha Motel near the Las Vegas Convention Center, has been in planning since 2004 without breaking ground on the hotel itself. The developer now plans a retail plaza first, targeting spring 2027 for that phase alone, with construction of the 604-room hotel tower — down from an earlier 720-room plan — to follow only after that.

The place

The site is the former home of the La Concha Motel and El Morocco Motel, two blocks off the Strip near the Las Vegas Convention Center — motels the Doumani family itself built and operated decades ago before La Concha was imploded to clear the site for this project.

The concept

First announced in February 2004 with an original target opening of February 2006, Majestic Las Vegas has spent more than two decades in planning limbo: prior approvals lapsed and had to be renewed, Federal Aviation Administration sign-off on the tower's height took roughly ten months to secure under revised evaluation criteria, and the Clark County Commission only approved a redesigned version of the resort in 2026. The concept — a roughly 50-storey, non-gaming, non-smoking luxury tower, a genuinely unusual positioning for this stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard — has survived across the redesigns, but the room count, cost and phasing have all shifted, most recently dropping to 604 rooms after the project's 35 planned corporate suites were cut to control costs.

Dining & wellness

No restaurant, bar, spa or amenity program has been detailed for the hotel phase; the developer's own materials describe amenities in only general terms pending the start of actual hotel construction.
