Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown NuLu opened in May 2024 as only the third property in Hilton's wellness-oriented Tempo brand, bringing 130 rooms, in-room Peloton bikes and a rooftop restaurant to the edge of NuLu just ahead of Kentucky Derby 150.

The place

Located at 710 East Jefferson Street on the edge of downtown and the NuLu district, the hotel occupies a newly constructed building completed in 2024, a short walk from Louisville Slugger Field and the Rabbit Hole Distillery.

The concept

Tempo by Hilton is Hilton's newer lifestyle brand built around balance and momentum for frequent travelers, and this was only the third Tempo property to open nationally. The 130-room Louisville hotel leans into that positioning with five dedicated Wellness Rooms equipped with Peloton bikes, alongside a flex meeting space and a 1,200-square-foot private event area.

Its opening was timed deliberately: the hotel debuted just ahead of the 150th Kentucky Derby and the PGA Championship at nearby Valhalla, and it was subsequently named among Travel + Leisure's 50 best places to travel in 2024.

Dining & wellness

Moonsong Bar + Café serves coffee and light fare on the ground floor, while High Stakes Grill is a full-service rooftop restaurant and event space with downtown skyline views.

We arrived early as we were attending a Louisville Bats baseball game nearby. Despite it being well before check-in, Hilton staff permitted us to utilize the connected parking garage and walk to the game only a few blocks away. Upon arriving back at the hotel, the room was ready and we checked in. I note that the garage is a pay facility (24 hour in/out privileges at $34/day), but the convenience alone was worth it. The room was immaculate and provided a great view of the city, even better after the sun began to set. The bathroom was set up perfectly, but the always anticipated and appreciated Hilton supplied shower gel was almost empty. When we left for an evening out, I presented Kevin the bottle at the front desk and he had it filled and ready for pick-up upon our return a few hours later. This short stay was just so relaxing and comfortable and we would not hesitate to return when we visit Louisville again.

Stayed for one night with my husband and toddler. We loved it. We felt safe and the parking was amazing & free. The staff here was super nice; They greeted us every time we came down the elevator. The front desk staff provided us with the best food options for dinner. The coffee shop staff were so nice and went out the way to clean my son's cup in preparation for fresh milk. The only thing about this location is that there wasn't much to do around the area. I would have thought DT was closer but it wasn't. Overall still a 5/5

Tempo by Hilton Louisville Downtown is a fantastic hotel with a modern, upscale feel. From the moment you walk into the lobby, the design is stylish, clean, and welcoming. The entire property has a fresh, contemporary atmosphere that stands out from a typical hotel experience. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, very comfortable, and well maintained, with everything needed for a relaxing stay. The beds were comfortable, the room was quiet, and the overall cleanliness was excellent. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating throughout our stay, making the experience even more enjoyable. The downtown location is another major advantage, with easy access to restaurants, attractions, and everything Louisville has to offer. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, it's a very convenient place to stay. Overall, Tempo by Hilton exceeded our expectations with its modern design, excellent service, and comfortable accommodations. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting downtown Louisville.

This was the first time in Louisville for my wife and me so we were a little unsure about the best place to stay. We’ve loved the choice of Tempo. It’s a great location in NuLu and close to many great restaurants. The rooms are well appointed and staff has been most accommodating. A special shout out to Tasha at Moonsong, the bar and restaurant on first floor. We would definitely stay here again!

We had such a good time. Very nice hotel, comfortable bed and pillows. The room didn’t get as cold as we would have preferred but it was still bearable. Restaurants both have great food and drinks, pricey as expected. Close to everything. Uber and Lyfts were cheap to get around to different activities around downtown.
