The concept
Hotel X is a new-build 30-storey tower on the site of the former Stanley Barracks Officers' Quarters, land that served as a British garrison reserve after the War of 1812. First proposed in 1999, the project survived three failed development attempts before HK Hotels — later the Library Hotel Collection — won the site in 2008; construction, which began in 2013, was delayed by contaminated-soil remediation and contractor liens before the hotel finally opened in March 2018. It's built around Ten X Toronto, an athletic-club concept combining squash and tennis courts with a rooftop pool.
Dining & wellness
Amenities include a three-level SkyBar, a year-round rooftop pool, an art gallery, a cinema and screening room, squash and tennis courts, and two ballrooms alongside meeting space — aimed squarely at the convention traffic from the neighbouring Enercare and Beanfield centres.
