The place
The hotel occupies the first nine of nine levels in the Carter Building on St Kilda Road, Melbourne's grand boulevard just south of the CBD.
The concept
Designed by Kerry Hill Architects, the practice behind COMO The Treasury in Perth, the hotel pairs a bluestone facade referencing Melbourne's architectural heritage with interiors the firm calls a 'sanctuary of understated luxury.' It shares the $300 million Carter Building with 54 private residences whose owners get full run of the hotel's amenities and Comoclub membership, positioning it as COMO's long-deferred answer to Australia's east coast, aimed at wellness-driven travelers rather than convention crowds.
Dining & wellness
A restaurant, café and bar open to guests, residents and the public sit alongside a full-floor COMO Shambhala wellness centre with a 20-metre indoor lap pool, thermal experience and fitness centre.
