The place

The hotel occupies the historic Rialto Building at 906 Grand Boulevard, in downtown Kansas City's Financial District — a 112-year-old structure previously home to an insurance company and later a United Missouri Bank branch.

The concept

AC Hotel Kansas City Downtown opened October 2024 after a roughly $73 million conversion of the Rialto Building, acquired by its current ownership in 2020 specifically for this transformation. Co-developed by Beechwood Pinnacle and operated by Hotel Equities, the 239-room hotel brought Marriott's design-focused AC Hotels brand — built around understated, European-influenced interiors — into a building that had never operated as a hotel before. Six event spaces and modern meeting technology position it toward both business travelers in the adjacent Financial District and groups visiting the nearby T-Mobile Center and Power & Light District, while the building's preserved architectural shell keeps a link to its insurance-and-banking past.

Dining & wellness

AC Kitchen + Café serves a European-inspired breakfast with cheeses, croissants and cured meats each morning, while AC Lounge offers cocktails and European-style small plates in the evening.
