New hotels in The Gulch

The Gulch takes its name from the rail yard that once ran through this stretch just southwest of downtown Nashville — a working freight gulch until redevelopment began in the mid-2000s, turning it into one of the city's densest concentrations of high-rise condos, restaurants and hotels. Three hotels we track have opened here since 2021 — W Nashville, Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville – The Gulch, and Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch — and three more are confirmed for the neighborhood through the end of the decade: Pendry Nashville, anchoring the new Paseo South Gulch development, The Nashville EDITION, and The Ritz-Carlton Nashville.

What to do in The Gulch

For a weekend

Walk 12th Avenue South's murals and boutiques — the neighborhood is known for its rotating street art, including the Wings mural a few blocks north — then head to Station Inn on 12th Avenue South for a bluegrass show at one of Nashville's oldest listening rooms. Division Street's restaurants make for an easy dinner within a few minutes' walk of Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch.

For a longer stay

With more time, the Gulch's compact grid makes it an easy walk into Downtown Nashville — the honky-tonks are about 15 minutes on foot — or south into Midtown & Music Row along Demonbreun Street.

The Gulch's main north-south spine, and the address for two of the three hotels already open here. W Nashville sits at 300 12th Avenue South, and Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville – The Gulch is a few blocks south at 118 12th Avenue South — The Ritz-Carlton Nashville, confirmed for 2029, will join them at 124 12th Avenue South, across from the Gulch Union office complex.

Division Street

A block over, Division Street carries more of the neighborhood's restaurants and bars. Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch opened here at 910 Division Street in June 2025, the most recent of the Gulch hotels we track to open.

Paseo South Gulch

A new mixed-use district built around the edge of the Gulch, anchored by Pendry Nashville, confirmed for 2027. The Nashville EDITION is also confirmed for the neighborhood, expected in 2028, adding a second Marriott luxury lifestyle brand to the Gulch's pipeline alongside The Ritz-Carlton.
