What to do at Central Park

For a weekend

Enter at Columbus Circle or Fifth Avenue and 59th Street and walk north through the Pond, the Mall and Bethesda Terrace — the park's most photographed stretch is entirely walkable in under an hour. Rent a rowboat at the Loeb Boathouse in warmer months, or skip straight to the Central Park Zoo near the 59th Street entrance if you're short on time. The park's southern half covers most of what a first-time visitor wants to see.

For a longer stay

With a full day, push north past the Great Lawn to the Reservoir and the Conservatory Garden near 105th Street, a quieter, far less crowded stretch than the southern half. The American Museum of Natural History sits just across Central Park West, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art sits just across Fifth Avenue — both make a natural pairing with a park walk on either side.
