voco Queenstown opened in July 2026 as IHG and owner Pro-invest Group's repositioning of the former Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown into the group's premium voco brand. The conversion refurbished all 227 rooms, added the Mediterranean restaurant Mozzarella & Co. with a wood-fired show kitchen, and redesigned the lobby around a commissioned Māori artwork, all steps from Queenstown's lakefront.

The place

On the corner of Stanley and Sydney Streets, within walking distance of Queenstown's lakefront and town centre, and close to Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Milford Sound day-trip departures.

The concept

voco Queenstown is a brand-change conversion: the former Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown, owned by Pro-invest Group, repositioned by IHG into its premium voco brand roughly six years after its original opening. The full refurbishment covers all 227 rooms and suites, upgraded meeting spaces and a redesigned lobby by Space Studios, anchored by a whītau harakeke artwork, Mīharo, by Māori artist Cheree Te Orangaroa Downes. IHG and Pro-invest frame it as a strategic repositioning of an existing asset into a stronger, premium proposition rather than a ground-up build.

Dining & wellness

Mozzarella & Co. is a new Mediterranean restaurant and bar with South Island influences, built around a show kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, in-house bakery and chef's table. It adds a private dining room for up to 14 guests and an outdoor terrace and lounge with firepits.
