Tribute Hotel at the Sloan Building
A century-old office tower becomes downtown Cleveland's first hotel-apartment hybrid.
Announced · Summer 2027
A 123-room Marriott Tribute hotel is rising inside Cleveland's century-old Sloan Building as part of Project Scarlet, a redevelopment that pairs the hotel with 171 Marriott-branded apartments next door in the Rose Building. Billed as the first joint multifamily-and-hospitality project of its kind in the US, it is due to open in summer 2027.

The place
The hotel occupies the six-story Sloan Building at 819-823 Prospect Avenue in downtown Cleveland, with a dedicated Prospect Avenue entrance and valet separate from the neighboring apartment tower's E. 9th Street access.
The concept
Architects Vocon and Berardi+Partners are converting the former Medical Mutual of Ohio headquarters into hotel suites topped with large arched windows original to the building, framing views over downtown Cleveland. The pairing with Marriott-branded residential units next door in the Rose Building — sharing select amenities including room service — is a first-of-its-kind format developer Spark GHC III is testing as a template for other underused downtown office stock.
Dining & wellness
Plans call for a stylish lobby bar and a full-service restaurant serving locally inspired cuisine, plus roughly 5,400 square feet of event space; specific restaurant naming and spa details have not been announced.
