Second Nature Belfast
Northern Ireland's first low-carbon hometel, on a Queen Street site that used to be an office block.
Open · October 2023
Opened in October 2023 on the site of a demolished 1980s office block, room2 Belfast Hometel became Northern Ireland's first low-carbon aparthotel — 175 rooms with kitchenettes aimed at longer stays. In 2025 it was renamed Second Nature Belfast as part of a wider rebrand of owner Lamington Group's Hometel portfolio.

The place
The hotel sits at 32-36 Queen Street in Belfast's Linen Quarter, on the site of the former Audio Times Building, a 1980s-built office and retail block also known as Lyndon Court.
The concept
Developed by Oakland Holdings and operated by London-based Lamington Group, the property opened in October 2023 as room2 Belfast Hometel — the group's first location outside England and Northern Ireland's first low-carbon aparthotel, built across nine floors on the footprint of the demolished former office building. Rooms are designed as a cross between a home and a hotel, several with fully equipped kitchenettes and separate living space, aimed at both short breaks and longer stays. In 2025, owner Lamington Group rebranded its entire Hometel portfolio — including the Belfast property, along with sister sites in Chiswick and Southampton — from room2 to Second Nature, a change the company describes as reflecting the business's evolution rather than any change to the guest experience. The building itself later became the first hotel in the UK to achieve WELL Platinum certification.
Dining & wellness
Winnie's café serves all-day breakfast and dining, alongside a bar, a tea room, and The Common communal lounge area. The property also has a gym, five meeting and event spaces, and The Pantry, an on-site essentials shop.
