Moxy Belfast City

MHL Hotel Collection has converted Belfast's former Park Inn by Radisson into Moxy Belfast City, reopening the ten-storey Clarence Street West building on September 10, 2025 after an £8 million refit. The 179-room hotel is Moxy's first in Northern Ireland and the 100th opening for the brand across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The place

The hotel sits at 4 Clarence Street West, in Belfast's city centre, within walking distance of Belfast City Hall, Ulster Hall, Victoria Square Shopping Centre and the bars and restaurants of the Cathedral Quarter. The location is the same one the building has occupied since 2008, on a block that puts guests closer to Belfast's civic and nightlife core than to the waterfront tourist sites around Titanic Quarter.

The concept

Moxy Belfast City occupies a ten-storey building on Clarence Street West that operated as the Park Inn by Radisson Belfast from 2008 until its closure in 2021, a casualty of the pandemic's toll on the hospitality trade. MHL Hotel Collection, the largest Marriott franchisee in Ireland, bought the 145-room property from May Street Capital in September 2024 and carried out an £8 million conversion with local firms Todd's Architects and Grant Fit Out, reconfiguring the building to 179 rooms and rebranding it under Marriott's Moxy flag. The reopening, on September 10, 2025, made it the 100th Moxy hotel across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the brand's first in Northern Ireland — an unusual move for a brand that has mostly grown through ground-up new builds rather than conversions. In keeping with Moxy's format, there is no traditional reception: check-in happens at the bar, and the ground floor is built around open social space — lounge, library-style seating, coworking corners with board games — rather than a conventional lobby.

Dining & wellness

Bar Moxy anchors the ground floor, serving breakfast, snacks and cocktails through the day and doubling as the check-in desk, where arriving guests are offered a complimentary cocktail or mocktail. A separate Moxy Breakfast Room hosts the buffet breakfast (weekdays 6:30–10:00am, weekends 7:00–10:30am, paid), and a 24/7 Grab & Go kiosk covers off-hours snacks and drinks. A heated garden extends the bar's seating outdoors.
