The Ritz-Carlton's third Australian address opens on the water at Mariner's Cove, part of a A$480 million redevelopment at the northern end of the Gold Coast. Capped at three storeys by local height limits, the 150-room hotel pairs a 275-square-metre signature suite with three bars, a rooftop pool and a dedicated events wing.

The place
The hotel sits at Mariner's Cove on The Spit, Main Beach, at the northern tip of the Gold Coast: a waterfront strip capped at three storeys by local planning rules, which the design respects with two levels of rooms beneath a rooftop pool.
The concept
Australia's third Ritz-Carlton, after Perth and Melbourne, trades the brand's usual tower format for a low, water-level footprint dictated by height limits on The Spit. A 275-square-metre Ritz-Carlton Suite tops the room mix, aimed at a luxury leisure and events market drawn to the Gold Coast's beaches and the adjoining Mariner's Cove marina precinct.
Dining & wellness
A signature restaurant with semi-open kitchens, a café, three bars (including a poolside bar and lobby lounge) a Ritz-Carlton Spa and a rooftop pool round out the offer, alongside a 512-square-metre ballroom for events.
News
August 14, 2026: The developer has filed a revised development application for the Mariners Cove project. The new plans convert 54 of the previously proposed hotel suites into 20 two- and three-bedroom luxury residential apartments, reducing the hotel's own room count from 150 to around 100 suites. The original approval had already been challenged in the Queensland Planning and Environment Court over local-precinct-impact concerns but was cleared to proceed; this filing is a design revision on top of that approval, not a new dispute.
