Mondrian made its Australian debut in June 2025 with a 208-room hotel on the Burleigh Heads beachfront, Ennismore's first outing for the brand on the continent. The 24-storey tower, designed by Fraser & Partners with interiors by Studio Carter, trades the brand's usual big-city energy for a surf-town setting, anchored by an Italian all-day diner and a wood-grilled seafood restaurant with its own pool club.

The place
The hotel sits directly on Burleigh Beach in Burleigh Heads, a Gold Coast suburb prized for its point break, its laid-back café and boutique strip, and the headland parkland that separates it from the denser high-rise stretch of Surfers Paradise further north. It is a beach-town rather than a resort-strip address, chosen for a mix of surf culture, local dining and a slower pace than the Gold Coast's more built-up tourist core. Rooms and public spaces look out over the Pacific Ocean, the Burleigh headland or the green hinterland behind the coast, depending on aspect.
The concept
Mondrian Gold Coast is Ennismore's first property under the Mondrian name in Australia, bookable through Accor's ALL loyalty programme as part of the group's wider push into the local market. The 24-level tower was designed by Australian architecture firm Fraser & Partners, with interiors by Studio Carter drawing on what the design team has described as the textural interplay of white sand and pandanus-lined coastline. Alexander & Co designed the restaurant spaces. The building holds 208 studios and suites, including two- and three-bedroom Beach Houses with kitchens and laundry facilities, topped by a three-bedroom Sky House penthouse on the 24th floor with a chef-ready kitchen and mixologist bar. The project had a long runway to opening, originally slated for 2023 before slipping to mid-2025, and arrives as part of a broader wave of Ennismore openings in Australia. Brand executives have framed the Gold Coast choice around the destination's natural setting and growing appetite for design-led lifestyle hotels outside the capital cities, positioning the property as a test of whether Mondrian's international playbook — art-driven interiors, a strong bar and restaurant identity — translates to a beach-town audience rather than an urban one.
Dining & wellness
Lito, the ground-floor restaurant and lobby bar, serves all-day coastal Italian cooking with a street-facing terrace. On the third floor, Haven pairs wood-grilled, line-caught seafood with a champagne- and agave-focused drinks list, alongside Haven Pool Club for resort-style snacks and cocktails by the water. Wellness runs through Ciel spa, described as offering bio-wellness and performance-based restorative treatments, plus a 25-metre resort pool and magnesium plunge pools.
