The Langham, Gold Coast

The Langham, Gold Coast opened in June 2022 inside the central tower of the Jewel development on the Surfers Paradise beachfront — the first hotel built with direct beach access on the Gold Coast in more than 30 years. The 339-room property runs six restaurants and bars, including the brand's signature Palm Court afternoon tea, alongside Chuan Spa.

The place

The hotel occupies the central and tallest of the three Jewel towers on Old Burleigh Road, on the Surfers Paradise beachfront toward its southern end near Broadbeach — a direct-beach address in a stretch of coast where new hotel construction on the sand itself had been effectively frozen for three decades.

The concept

The Langham, Gold Coast anchors the Jewel development's middle tower, a three-tower residential and hotel complex that also includes Jewel Residences apartments; the hotel occupies 339 rooms and suites across 17 different configurations, each looking out over the ocean or the Gold Coast hinterland. It marks Langham Hospitality Group's third Australian property after Sydney and Melbourne, and the first purpose-built beachfront hotel on the Gold Coast since the early 1990s, betting that the brand's Asian-luxury service style and afternoon-tea heritage can find an audience alongside the coast's resort-casual competitors.

Dining & wellness

The hotel runs six food and beverage outlets: Palm Court for the brand's signature Langham afternoon tea, all-day dining venue Akoya, poolside restaurant 26 & Sunny, T'ang Court (a sister concept to Langham's Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurants), open-air bar Coral Moon and a separate pool bar. Chuan Spa runs the wellness side, built around Traditional Chinese Medicine-influenced treatments.
