Hyatt's Andaz brand makes its Australian debut on Broadbeach Island, taking floors six through 21 of The Star Gold Coast's new second tower as part of a $400 million resort expansion. The 202-room hotel leans on a sun-tracking design concept, a level-six pool deck and a beach club to differentiate itself from the integrated resort's existing casino hotels.

The place

The hotel occupies floors six to 21 of The Star Gold Coast's second tower on Broadbeach Island, inside the casino resort's integrated precinct minutes from the beach, convention centre and Pacific Fair shopping.

The concept

Andaz's first Australian property is built around a 'Chase the Sun' design language from architecture firm DBI and interior studio Hachem, tracking daylight from sunrise to sunset across its public spaces. It positions Hyatt's lifestyle brand for a design-conscious, resort-and-nightlife crowd distinct from the convention travelers The Star's existing towers serve.

Dining & wellness

A level-six pool deck with a beach club and private cabanas, an all-day Andaz Lounge, a cocktail bar and al fresco dining outlets, plus a fitness centre, anchor the food-and-beverage program.
