Palm Beach Hotel

Palm Beach Hotel is a $120 million, 126-room hotel approved by Gold Coast City Council in March 2023 for a former Centrelink site on the Gold Coast Highway, designed by Plus Architecture for developer Steer Developments. No independent source has confirmed a construction start or opening date since approval, despite an original early-2025 completion target.

The place

The site sits at 1081-1089 Gold Coast Highway in Palm Beach, a Gold Coast suburb between Burleigh Heads and Currumbin, on land previously occupied by a Centrelink office rather than any earlier hotel.

The concept

Gold Coast City Council approved this $120 million, six-level hotel in March 2023, designed by Plus Architecture for a joint venture led by Rob Steer's Steer Developments. Coverage at approval described it as the first hotel of its kind in Palm Beach, a suburb that has seen rapid apartment development without a hotel of comparable scale. Plus Architecture principal Danny Juric said the brief called for "a considered approach to create a standout development in an increasingly discerning market." Construction was expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2023 with completion targeted for early 2025, but no independent report has confirmed a groundbreaking, construction progress or a firm opening date since approval.

Dining & wellness

Plans describe a rooftop pool, gym, spa and in-house dining, but no restaurant, bar or spa operator has been named.
