Omni Raleigh Hotel

Omni Hotels & Resorts broke ground on its Raleigh hotel on April 20, 2026. The 29-story tower will have 600 rooms and is budgeted at $360 million. It is Omni's third hotel in North Carolina and is due to open in late 2028. The building belongs to the expansion of the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex. Its draw is the meeting business: a 20,000-square-foot ballroom and 61,000 square feet of meeting space in total.

The place

The site is at the corner of South Salisbury Street and West South Street in downtown Raleigh, between the Raleigh Convention Center and the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. A convention delegate can reach either building without leaving the block.

The groundbreaking was held alongside the unveiling of the redesigned Lichtin Plaza, the main entrance to the performing arts center, which gained a dedicated drop-off lane, accessible ramps and more green space. At the ceremony, an Omni executive described a tree planted in the plaza as a sign of long-term commitment to the city.

The concept

This is a convention hotel first. The local visitors bureau's chief executive, Denny Edwards, said that 600 rooms next to the center would let Raleigh bid for larger conventions and host several at once.

Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio is the architect, Waldrop + Nichols Studio designs the interiors, and Brasfield & Gorrie is the builder. Jeffrey Beers International designed the steakhouse and the sports bar.

The hotel adds a fitness center and a wellness area with hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, cold plunges, red light recovery tables and compression pods, plus a rooftop pool.

Dining & wellness

Bob's Steak & Chop House will be the first in North Carolina, with artwork inspired by Raleigh and private dining. Omni also plans the first coffee shop under the Peter Millar name, serving a medium-dark blend developed with Black & White Coffee Roasters.

A rooftop pool will have an all-day restaurant next to it, and a sports bar will offer a golf simulator, large video walls and a covered outdoor patio.
