The place
The Marina Mirage precinct on the Gold Coast's Main Beach waterfront, alongside a private marina — the fourth Marriott-brand hotel in the immediate area, joining the existing JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa, Sheraton Grand Mirage and Mondrian Gold Coast.
The concept
The Makris Group, which has owned the Marina Mirage retail-and-marina precinct since 2013, is demolishing the ageing 1980s shopping centre to build a mixed-use redevelopment worth roughly A$500 million, anchored by mainland Australia's first Luxury Collection resort — the brand's only prior Australian property is The Tasman in Hobart, on the island of Tasmania. Fraser Partners is the project architect. The 122-room resort will sit alongside a small number of branded villas and residences and a rebuilt marina.
Dining & wellness
Plans announced alongside the signing include a signature restaurant, a rooftop bar and pool, and a wellness and beauty centre, but no chef, operator or F&B brand names have been confirmed.
