Marina Mirage Gold Coast, a Luxury Collection Resort

Marina Mirage Gold Coast, a Luxury Collection Resort, will bring Marriott's Luxury Collection brand to mainland Australia for the first time, rebuilding the Makris Group's Marina Mirage retail-and-marina precinct into a 122-key resort with villas, residences and a new marina. Targeted for a 2027 opening, though some coverage points to 2028 instead, it will be the Gold Coast's fourth Marriott-family hotel alongside JW Marriott Gold Coast, Sheraton Grand Mirage and Mondrian Gold Coast.

The place

The resort sits within the Marina Mirage precinct, a retail-and-marina complex on the Gold Coast that the family-owned Makris Group has owned since 2013.

The concept

Marriott International signed with Makris Group in mid-2024 to bring The Luxury Collection to the Gold Coast for the first time on mainland Australia, redeveloping the Marina Mirage precinct into a 122-key resort with a new marina, villas and residences alongside the hotel. Marriott's Richard Crawford, vice president of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, framed the project as an expansion of a market Marriott already knows well through its JW Marriott and Sheraton Grand Mirage resorts on the Gold Coast. Makris Group CEO Jason Makris has described the scheme as realizing his father Con Makris's long-term vision for the site.

Dining & wellness

A signature restaurant built around local ingredients, a rooftop bar and pool, a jacuzzi and garden, plus a wellness and beauty centre and a day spa are all planned; none has a confirmed name yet.
