The place

Pine Street sits in downtown St. Louis, within walking distance of the America's Center Convention Complex, Busch Stadium, the Enterprise Center and the Gateway Arch. That puts the hotel in the convention and ballpark district rather than on the riverfront.

The concept

The renovation keeps the original architectural details of the building and adds Le Méridien's European-leaning style. The lobby is described by the owner as a balance of period elegance and modern comfort.

Rooms have clean lines, warm finishes and work areas. Hawkeye Hotels is led by its president, Ravi Patel.

The address was previously known as the Majestic, and Marriott's Le Méridien flag is the latest in a series of brand changes for the property. Meeting space totals more than 1,200 square feet and holds up to 100 people, which suits small corporate groups more than conventions.

Dining & wellness

Pine Street Social Kitchen & Wine Bar is the main restaurant, serving modern American dishes such as short rib ragu pappardelle, bourbon-brined pork chops and a burger with bacon jam and pimento cheese. Wood millwork, marble and white linens set the tone. Longitude Bar serves espresso drinks and gelato. A 24-hour fitness centre and valet parking complete the offer.
