Element St. Louis Midtown

Element St. Louis Midtown opened on November 24, 2020, a $40 million, seven-story, 153-room new build from Midas Hospitality positioned directly across from City Foundry STL and a short walk from the Cortex Innovation Community and Saint Louis University.

The place

The hotel sits at 3763 Forest Park Avenue in Midtown St. Louis, purpose-built across the street from the City Foundry STL food-hall-and-retail redevelopment and close to the Cortex tech district.

The concept

Element, Marriott's design-and-sustainability-focused extended-stay brand, chose Midtown's Cortex-adjacent corridor for its St. Louis debut, betting on the neighborhood's tech and education anchors — the Cortex Innovation Community, Saint Louis University, and the then-emerging City Foundry STL project across the street. Midas Hospitality both developed and built the seven-story, 153-room hotel through its construction arm, featuring the brand's standard eco-conscious touches (energy-efficient systems, kitchenettes) aimed at longer-stay business and relocation travelers rather than leisure guests. Its November 2020 opening, in the middle of the pandemic's most disruptive stretch for hospitality, made it one of the few entirely new St. Louis hotels to launch that year, betting on the neighborhood's longer-term redevelopment rather than immediate tourist demand.

Dining & wellness

The rooftop UPBAR offers cocktails and a food menu with skyline views; rooms include kitchenettes standard to the Element extended-stay format.
